Here's an entertaining explanation, that does a pretty good job of the theory - see the bit where he shows "edging away" - basically, it's turning upwind to get some tension in the lines and then pushing down with back foot/lifting front foot to "pop"

Hey all this is driving me nuts ... I can only seem to get Pop when doing a backroll. Im trying to do a small pop to go to toeside but just cant seem to get there. Can anyone give a good explanation on how this is done correctly?
